Jean-Francois (JF) Esculier graduated from the University of Ottawa's physiotherapy program in 2009. Since then, he has been treating runners of all levels (recreational to professional and Olympic athletes) and people with a variety of sports injuries. Being a clinician-researcher-educator and a runner helps him to provide the best care possible for your problem.

JF completed his Masters, PhD and post-doctoral fellowship on knee pain in runners, and obtained his Certificate of Sport Physiotherapy.

He is an active researcher interested in knee pain (patellofemoral pain, knee osteoarthritis), running biomechanics and running footwear. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia, and the Past President of the BC Sport & Exercise Medicine Research Foundation.

JF has published over 55 research articles in scientific journals. He is frequently invited to teach and provide lectures at scientific conferences around the world.

Combining her unique backgrounds in high performance sport (UBC Varsity and Canadian National Field Hockey Team Goalkeeper), neuroscience research and clinical experience, she aims to “act as a coach” by guiding you on your rehabilitation journey using up to date, science-based treatment approaches.

Bea is particularly interested in women’s health and has taken post-graduate training in pelvic health, assessing and treating runners, and treating the female athlete.

Her treatment approach uses a combination of education, exercise prescription, hands-on therapy, and IMS.

Kaz (he/him) is a Canadian trained physiotherapist who was born and raised in Japan. Through his competitive soccer career, degree in Physical Education and business experience connecting with others, Kaz developed a keen interest in health care and helping people achieve an optimal lifestyle.

As a physiotherapist, Kaz has experience working in both hospital and clinical settings and he is interested in supporting people with:

  • Running Injuries

  • Chronic (persistent) pain

    • Low back pain

    • Neck and shoulder pain

Kaz has additional training in Cognitive Functional Therapy and Pain Reprocessing Therapy. He is actively involved in the BC Adaptive Mentorship Network (BCAMN) for Pain, Mental Health and Substance Use organized by Pain BC.

He also loves teaching and connecting with others, and as a passion project, he organizes and teaches The Running Clinic courses about running injury prevention and treatment to healthcare professionals in Japan.

Rob is thankful to have grown up in Kelowna and have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of athletics such as hockey, skiing, golfing, soccer, and martial arts to name a few. 

While completing his undergraduate degree in Human Kinetics at UBCO, Rob developed a special interest in strength and conditioning. He became a certified trainer and had the unique opportunity to train a diverse range of people from aspiring young athletes to Olympians.

Following his years coaching, he attended UBC and completed his clinical Master’s degree in Physical Therapy. Rob is dedicated to reviewing research and learning the most-up-to date science to best help you navigate your unique journey to your best life.
